I am currently enjoying the new book "THE SOURCE" about Father Yod/YaHoWha. The CD that comes with it is also really good.
here is a satellite photo of the barn I will be staying in while at the ranch for the holidays!

this video has been proven to be a fake...but it's really funny to hear all the film makers freaking out because they don't think it could be done by an animator.
MAHJONGG (you must click on this image)

the new MAHJONGG album "Kontpab" is great! I can't wait to see them in February!

I was finally able to get my hands on (thank you Adam!) the new Mississippi Records LP Gospel comp. that includes a 7" of George "Bongo Joe" Coleman and some nice liner notes! Let me tell you that this is the best gospel music I have ever heard! some of the most electrifying and freak out guitar riffs ever with some excellent singing and an anti-rock song that is more rock n' roll that most rock n' roll!

Here are more Polaroid pictures of people/cats I know. I can't decide If I will make these all into individual drawings/watercolors or just one big collage drawing of everyone.

P.S. this record "THE SOUTH DALLAS POP FEST 1970" is the fucking shit!!!
LA JETEE (the entire film)

HOMESCHOOLED: THE ABC'S OF KID SOUL!
quite a while back I got the 2nd Sublime Frequencies LP featuring "GROUP INERANE"! it's fucking awesome. I should dub it for Benny P. if he hasn't already heard it.

my favorite album lately is S. E. Rogie's Palm Wine Guitar Music: 60's Sound!!!
ELVIN JONES, MAX ROACH, & ART BLAKEY Drum Battle!

did I mention how good / strange "BOMBAY TALKIE" is?

I also got a great world music comp. from a label called "Dust to Digital" in Atlanta, GA. the comp is "Black Mirror: Reflections in Global Musics".
I am in the middle of Satyajit Ray's Calcutta Trilogy...it is very good. Here is a clip of "PATHER PANCHALI"

I saw an English film from 1938 last night called "PYGMALION" that was pretty funny, and of course pretty obnoxious.

yesterday Max Roach passed away. I feel like all my favorite artists have passed away recently. M. Roach was without a doubt one of the best drummers ever.

do yourself a favor and see the "Ring of Fire" documentary series by Lawrence and Lorne Blair! It's amazing! The episode I watched last night had footage of a man who had harnessed his inner energy and was literally electric! He actually set newspaper on fire with his energy!

Also highly recommended is "HOW TASTY WAS MY LITTLE FRENCHMAN". what a beautiful movie with an excellent soundtrack.

I had a very nice 4th of July at Burfoot Park with nice people and delicious food! Setting off Fireworks at the Watertower was very dangerous but very exciting!

i have moved to a new house. it has been real hard, mainly because work has been a drag.

it's 10:53 p.m. at Ghost Ranch and I am exhausted! I've been getting up every day at 7 a.m. and eating the worst food ever three times a day....but the hikes and adventures have been fun. today i visited "Ojo Caliente" and soaked in mineral baths that were over 2000 years old. I also took a mud bath. I just came down the hill after checking out some stars through my friend Curtis' telescope! I saw Jupiter and it's four moons, along with Venus, and a few other binary stars. Tomorrow is my full day in New Mexico and then I go home Sunday evening! can't wait to see my cats and my lady. I am not so excited for finishing up school and going back to work after a week of missing out, but it could be worse. oh yea, and then I have to move! i am not sure if i am excited or not, but either way, i am moving. i think i am exited.

it's kind of a bummer, alot of things have broken this week and just sort of dissapointed my mom and today she got really sick and sad and acted like a little kid and who just didn't want to go home or deal with reality. it was very cute in a way. i played a little music for her and then her friend Meryl fell talked with her and got her to sleep, so hopefully she'll feel better in the morning. i sure do hope so. I met a nice fellow today named Marshall and we are going to take on the hardest hike yet "Kitchen Mesa". Hopefully it'll happen. it involves alot of climbing and i can't do it alone.

being around these unitarians again makes me feel like a socially akward weirdo. is it them, or me? by today i have seemed to get along with most of them, but all the same, i am a weirdo.

i've been reading "The Tin Drum" by Gunter Grass and it's getting good.

i am sad that i haven't really done any drawing in 2007. just a couple. i made one watercolor picture while i was here and i gave it to my mom. although i thought it was hideous! ah well.

i think i'll go shower and shave now. my eyes are burning.

you can click on the image to see it larger.

in other news, i have never been busier than these past two weeks. as excited as i am to go to ghost ranch, i am already worried about the catch up work i'll have at school and work.

good thing i lost my radio show and my band recently. might make it easier to move in june.

if you read this blog and you're not my dad, please send an e-mail to joelbrazzel@Hotmail.com and let me know you exist.
