well in the most recent Velvet Underground poll it looks like people find the most love for those White Light/White Heat & Quine Tape jammers! who can blame em'? what other album in the world has a jam as good as Follow the Leader?

TOKYO DRIFTER at the Capitol last night was loads of fun. I am glad some buddies came to see it.

I haven't had a chance to get a real update posted...I don't have a computer at home...but tons of blog-worthy things have happened...but for now I just want to say this:

I never saw FIRST BLOOD with Sylvester Stallone until last night...I thought, oh this will be an amusing action movie. It turns out that it is actually one of the best action movies ever!!! see this movie!

In other news there is a new Velvet Underground bootleg of a live show from the Gymnasium that recently surfaced and has a "new song" that no one has heard called "I'm Not A Young Man, Anymore". here's a link to the Dead Flowers blog with the downloads!!!

my ex-step sister who is much younger than I am had her first baby last week...gross! that means my ex-step mom has like 20 grandchildren now...it's too bad those people didn't leave their white trashiness out in west texas. harsh.

anyways, i went to the zoo a while back...and saw some otters, that was cool. and Benny P's art reception was fun and Saturday night we made a fire and I drank lots of whiskey and sat on the couch outside by myself for a while. yea Saturday night!

Ness gave me a soft robe which is really amazing and I wish I could wear it to work.

ok I gotta go! people are ordering the new Microphones re-issue like crazy!

I got these records on Monday, I'd say they're pretty alright.

Today I went to the dentist, and he started laughing and said "you have got to see this, it's too funny!", so I agreed that I would see whatever it was he would show me which turned out to be a tissue sample the oral surgeon took when I got my wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Fisher exclaimed "the tissue sample came back, and it said they found some green tea! do you drink green tea?" and I quickly replied "oh yes! all the time! mmmmm green tea!". The document that had the information about my mouth tissue said "an organic chronic green substance"....or something like that. and then he said "for a second there i wondered if it was the 'wild weed'".

B.J. showed me this video by Zak Galifianakis that Kanye West had him make for his song:

In other news, I finally got that dude I bought the scooter from to come down and sign the title so I could get it in my name, which I did and get the tabs for this year. I feel less nervous about driving around now, which is nice.

I don't have any pictures of it yet (Tricia), but hopefully I'll take some soon.

I am too sleepy to post any more information.

Hopefully I will be able to post things soon, cause I feel like I missed a lot.

I forgot about this jowling classic!

Tricia left yesterday, and after the 2nd week of her "leaving" I thought it would be no biggie to say goodbye, but it was. and I felt sad.

however, today I am going to buy this scooter!!!

JUMPING AT TRICIA'S OLD PLACE

(photographs by Tricia Denise Matthews)

They don't call me Jowl Brazzel for nothing!
I got all these LP's this weekend!

so far the best song award on this Turkish Psych comp. of jams from 67-73, goes to Erkin Koray: (this song in the video is not the same song)::

on Thursday I saw THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES... and it was pretty good. A little too long, but the acting wasn't bad and there were some really nice looking scenes although the projector had it out of focus the whole time.

Benny P. Baggins came to kick it yesterday after he hung up his artwork at the Olympia Film Society & we ate delicious dumpling stew & salad with lots of yummy beer and then we watched THE RUNNING MAN.

maybe some people have changed their minds about this, but I personally feel like these are still 2 of the greatest movies of the 90's ever:

Wayne's World

BATMAN

I'll never forget the day this movie came out and I was all set to go see it, and my grandmother saw it before me(!?) and she calls my mom and says it "isn't appropriate". that was the first and last time I cried.

here is a really crappy (quality that is) picture of the gang at pizza club 3 weeks ago:
there's Jeremy, me, Colleen, Tricia, Kristen, Calvin, & Madt

I have been doing both mail order, production stuff, and internship stuff and it's really making me sleepy. I want to sleep for a while.

This is McDonald Observatory in Ft. Davis, TX that I recently visited in December

I recently re-discovered my ancient digital camera that uses FLOPPY DISCS! it holds about 30 pictures per floppy, and here are some good ones of my 2nd best fluffy buddy Melba Jean!

I suppose today is officially my last day as production manager. From now on I will be the Mailorder Dept. Supervisor / the General Manager's Assistant / part time Production "team".

last night Ness, Cole, Caroline, & myself ate open faced tofu & gravy sandwiches with yams and bell peppers and all kinds of delicious vegetables on top. then Ness & Caroline made some amazing blueberry cobbler that Tricia had frozen and given to us. She had picked them last summer at Ward Lake. Cole and I got some ice cream and it was the happiest part of my weekend.

yesterday I got a compilation I had never heard of before called ZANZIBARA: 60'S SOUND OF TANZANIA. at first it kind of struck me as sort of really nice/typical sounding afro-pop music...but then! all the amazing guitar solos starting trickling out of the speakers while I was soaking in the tub and that is actually just a really weird sentence.

so yea, that compilation is good and I also got ETHNIC MINORTIY MUSIC OF NORTH VIETNAM. I first heard this when I walked into Dumpster Values after it had closed and Warren was listening to it. It features some excellent jams and some really interesting instruments.

speaking of Warren, I saw him for a minute...with shaggy hair??? Warren, don't forget to send me the new PROBLEMS jams! and old ones too.

On Saturday Ness took some serious initiative and organized the closet! good job Ness. then we went to Racha with Caroline and had some amazing Thai Catfish. it's really too bad that this place is at the mall...I want Benny P. to try this fish. He would love it.

I am very excited about Richard West's new writing blog! if he lets me I will post a link to it in the future.

I am excited to see WAR DANCE this week at the OFS...and even THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD BLAH BLAHY BALDF. I walked into the movie while I was working yesterday and noticed a scene that happens in the original I SHOT JESSE JAMES where there is a guitarist singing a "hit" in the bar about how lousy of a person Robert Ford is, and Robert Ford is of course...right there and isn't too stoked on this being a "hit". Casey Affleck looked pretty good as a "coward".

I am going to hook up my mixer to my stereo and do a radio show-esque mix just for fun. I miss using faders. actually! this dude named Evan who works down at the record store said I could co-host with him sometime on KAOS! should be fun

also! Adam told me that Tim (dumb owner of Rainy Day) is not re-newing the lease and Adam says he might buy it! that would be sooo rad!

I finally saw KING OF KONG - A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS last night! It was better than I thought it would be...so good!!!
it's been 2 years since "International Wear Calvin's Coat Day" was established.
